Tips of Life ("we", "our", or "the App") is a wellness companion application available on Android and the web. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

2. How Your Data Is Stored

On-device storage: All app usage data (favorites, goals, mood journal, streaks, engagement stats, chat history) is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use a sharing feature.
Google Sign-In: Authentication is handled by Google's OAuth 2.0 service. We receive a limited profile (name, email, photo) and an authentication token. We do not store your Google password.
AI chat messages: When the AI Copilot feature is used, your message is sent via an encrypted HTTPS connection to our server-side proxy, which forwards it to OpenAI's API for processing. Messages are not stored on our servers. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to the processing step — see OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

Camera or microphone data
Device identifiers for advertising (no ad SDK is included)
Health data from device sensors

Note on payments: Subscription payments are processed by Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. We do not directly collect or store your credit card number, bank account details, or other financial payment instruments. Razorpay processes your payment securely and provides us only with transaction identifiers and payment status to manage your subscription.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Data may be shared only in these limited circumstances:

AI processing: Chat messages are transmitted to OpenAI to generate responses. No other personal data is included in these requests.
Legal compliance: If required by law or valid legal process.
User-initiated sharing: When you use the "Share" or "Invite Friends" features, you choose what to share and with whom.

6. Data Security

All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Cleartext HTTP traffic is blocked at the operating system level.
The OpenAI API key is stored on our server and is never included in the app binary or transmitted to your device.
Device-level storage is sandboxed by the Android operating system and is not accessible to other apps.
Cloud backup of app data is disabled (android:allowBackup="false").

7. Notifications

The App may send notifications (e.g., daily wellness tip reminders) if you grant notification permission. Notifications may be delivered locally on your device or via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), a push notification service operated by Google. FCM may receive a device token to deliver notifications; this token is not used for advertising or tracking. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your device settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Tips of Life is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at tipsoflifein@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data — All your app data is stored locally on your device and visible to you within the app.
Delete your account — Use the "Delete Account" option in the Profile screen. This revokes Google authentication and clears all locally stored data.
Opt out of AI features — The AI Copilot and Daily Reflection features are optional. If you don't use them, no data is sent to OpenAI.
Disable notifications — Revoke permission in your device's notification settings.

10. Health & Wellness Disclaimer

Tips of Life provides general wellness information for educational purposes only. Content in this app (including AI-generated advice) is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
